SMS with important and time sensitive messages
Sometimes it is needed to send some extra important and time sensitive information. It could be one time codes to login into a system or a high priority alarm that should be dealt with as soon as possible. For those use cases Flash SMS (also called Class 0 SMS) should be used instead of normal SMS.
There are a couple of things that differentiate Flash SMS from a normal SMS:
- Flash SMS are shown immediately on the receivers phone and do not disappear until the receiver has confirmed the message. This feature is perfect for messages that really have to be read by the receiver.
- Flash SMS are not automatically saved in the phones memory. This is useful when sending information that should not be saved, like login credentials.
You can send Flash SMS with 46elks in the same way you send a normal SMS. Just set the extra POST variable flashsms to yes when you send a SMS and the message will be sent as a Flash SMS.
Keep in mind that when you send several Flash SMS is the receiver is only able to see the latest message since the messages are not saved on the phone. Also, the sender of the Flash SMS is not shown to the receiver so it is important to be clear in the content of the text message.
